Clean water systems for 40,000 villagers

The Project

Millions of women and children spend several hours a day collecting water from distant, often polluted sources in Indonesia. Pentair partnered with Action Against Hunger in that country to bring clean water to people threatened by malnutrition and waterborne diseases.

The Solution

Utilizing its technology and engineering expertise, Pentair works with Action Against Hunger to introduce piping into developing regions or those experiencing disaster. In 2011, the organizations approved support for a water construction project in Indonesia’s impoverished Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) province. Pentair supported local authorities through the installation and maintenance of a new water supply system through donations of products, philanthropic dollars and employee expertise. Local engineers provided training and oversight during project installation and helped to monitor its effectiveness. In addition, local populations were educated about hand-washing, proper latrine use, and other important hygiene practices—helping to reduce the spread of disease.
